Outpatient psychotherapy and psychiatric treatment in Münster — between the university hospital, the palace and Lake Aa.

Welcome

We are glad you found your way here. At the Praxis am Pottkamp we provide outpatient treatment across the psychodynamic and behavioural spectrum — as a statutory health insurance service within German guideline psychotherapy, and privately. In addition, Dr. Scherer runs a private psychiatric practice with a focus on ADHD and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in adults.

These are the three concerns that bring most people to us:

“I wonder whether I have ADHD or am on the autism spectrum”

Many adults come to us after years of depression, anxiety or exhaustion that has not responded to the usual treatments. We assess this in line with the German guidelines — in Dr. Scherer’s private practice, for privately insured patients, those entitled to Beihilfe (civil-servant assistance) and self-payers.

How we understand it

“I am looking for a psychotherapy place”

Psychotherapeutic consultation, acute treatment and guideline psychotherapy under statutory cover: behavioural therapy with Dipl.-Psych. Linda Tesch, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy with Dr. Scherer.

Our therapy places are currently taken. The consultation hour continues — what that means for you.

“I would like to refer someone”

For colleagues: how the assessment proceeds, what the report contains, what you receive back — and how the test findings can help during a treatment that is already under way.

Treatment and assessment in English

The whole of this website is available in English, and so is the work itself: consultations, structured interviews, the feedback session and the written report can be conducted in English. The assessment of ADHD and autism spectrum disorder is the service most often asked for in English; the fee information is available in English as a PDF.

One limitation belongs in the open: not every questionnaire exists in a validated English version. Where we have to fall back on a German form, or where the norms come from a German-speaking sample, the report says so.

If this is an acute emergency, we are not the right place. A practice that works by appointment cannot help quickly enough in an acute crisis. In Germany, emergency services are available around the clock on 112 and the out-of-hours medical service on 116 117. The telephone counselling service Telefonseelsorge is free of charge and always available on 0800 111 0 111 and 0800 111 0 222.
