My therapeutic stance
My therapeutic work is marked by openness, authenticity, appreciation and a trusting encounter between equals. Alongside all seriousness, humour and lightness may have their place too.
For our work I want to create a space in which you can show yourself as you are, without having to feel ashamed or to present a particular version of yourself. Thoughts and feelings may be spoken, even when they are uncomfortable, contradictory or at first hard to understand.
I do not understand cognitive behavioural therapy as the schematic working-through of treatment manuals. Rather, I want to select and apply scientifically grounded methods in such a way that they fit your individual situation, your needs and your goals.
For me it also holds that psychotherapy should make change possible, not force it. As a psychotherapist I understand myself as a knowledgeable companion on your path towards change. I bring in my knowledge and experience, establish connections together with you, offer impulses and support you in developing new perspectives and new possibilities for action.
Which changes you seek and which steps you wish to take, you decide yourself. Not every therapeutic recommendation has to be right for you. Your autonomy is at the centre of our work together.
My aim is to support you in understanding your own needs and goals better, in making conscious decisions and in shaping your life according to your own ideas.
